The weather was great at the Grand cannyon and we had fantastic views over and in the cannyon and the Colorado river.

Yes historical Route 66 was fun and we stopped off in lots of little interesting towns.

Duke was on his dads Harley having a good look at Route 66 as well.

London bridge in Lake Havasu, purchased from London and transported stone by stone and rebuild in the city of Havasu over the lake, that is America for you.

Small car, small boat no just kidding Roel and I have lost weight, or who am I kidding?

We arrived in LA at Dan's and Lars could not wait a day longer, it was off to Disney and into screamer his favorite roller coaster which he had done lots of time on the computer in vertual time. It was good and scarry in real life too.

Darren and Lars in another heartstopper.

Not scarry but very wet was the bumper boat ride lots of fun and the sun had us dry in no time.

Daily walk(s) with Peaches in Dan's neigbourhood .

Sundowner with Marguerita's and beer in Laguna Niguel overlooking the ocean it was pretty close to perfect.

The boys having FUN and getting wet, on their last day in Southern California before heading back to Holland and for Darren towards Alaska.

Camped at a National park ,129 sites on the beach . Every one line up please.

Fruit and vegetables are the main income along the coast of California and with lots of little stalls at the side of the road we ate well too.

Hearst Castle, California's most famous monument to wealth and ambition named after newspaper magnet William Randlph Hearst.

Elephant Seals, and more Elephant Seals, hundreds of them grunting and groaning but mostly just sleeping.

Along the coastal scenic highway on the side of Santa Lucia Range spectacular and dramatic driving towards Monterey

Yosemite National Park for four days of hiking and looking up at climbers who were like specks on a huge boulder. Rather them than me, but some took 5 or 6 days to reach the top and yes the slept, ate and ...all on the cliff face.

Yosemite National Park, is America's third largest park with green meadows and mirror pools, the heights are dizzying the mist from the falls drenching.

Waterfalls galore as the snow from winter was just melting and turns the falls into thunderous cateracts. Yosemite falls is considered the tallest fall in North America.

Glacierpoint was our departure point at 3200 feet above the valley floor and we hiked back into the Valley along huge waterfalls, up and down valley's and through beautiful forest. But..............it was a more than a casual walk!!

Do we need to say more?

After Yosemite we headed along the highway 49 gold trail back towards the coast but not before trying our luck in some of the streams.

Calavera's Big Trees State Park with remains and still stands of Huge trees. I am standing on what was once (around 1859) the local dance floor.

Spot Darren amongst Redwoods in Redwood National State Park, where almost half of the remaining old growth redwood forests still remain.

What do you think of this little Redwood no not me.
We are now ready to leave California and head into Oregon and on to Washington States. Both these States are a lot smaller than california and we will only spend about a week in each as we are making our way up to Canada to catch our ship for a cruise up the Inland Passage of the Marine Highway.
