We left Vancouver on Sunday morning from our campground in North Vancouver where we left our van and our earthy travels behind. In exchange for a week of glorious "sailing" along the coast line of Canada and Alaska on athe Norwegian Sun.
A cruiseship of 13 stories height and 260 metres in length with 13 different restaurants and 10 bars, disco, library, art shop, casina, swimming pools, spa's sauna's sundecks, lounges, music rooms, hairdresser and masseur, shops and activities, driving range and shuffle board and even that is not all.
2000 guest and 900 crew and still plenty of room for every one and even lots places where you feel as if you are the only one on the ship.
We went from Vancouver to Ketchikan to Juneau to Skagway to Mendhall glacier and back to Vancouver over 2000 kilometres of sailing and a week on board it was magic.

The Norwegian Sun in Vancouver at Canada landing ready to sail.

We are leaving Vancouver behind and heading out to the ocean.

Sailing along the inland passage sitting on the back deck enjoying the view

View over deck 12 with 2 of the swimming pools, 4 spa's a bar and lovely deckchairs.

Tinglit native of Alska in ketchikan where we visited their village and watched them carve totem poles.

I was asked to join in the ceremony and danced with the Tinglit in one of their capes.

Totem poles up to 25 metres in height with descriptive meanings to the clan or for historic events. It was pouring with rain no surprise as it rains 300 days out of 365 a year.

Next port of call in Juneau was the lumber jack show lots of fun but all based around the hard work of the loggers in the large forests of Alaska.

Demonstration as to how to bring the logs together and yes sometimes they do fall in the icy cold river.

Not only lumber and totem poles but also the Salmon capital of the world!!

Juneau the capital of Alaska 300.000 people and no road in or out only access is by boat or plane.

Back on board after a hard day of sightseeing and the weather was nice too.

Carved of iceberg from the Mendhall glacier so pretty.
I
Into Tracy arm and up and close to the glacier spectacular.

The seals made good use of the icebergs.

Third and last stop Skagway with it's old worldy charm and lots of history from the gold rush times.

White Pass and Yukon train ride 1000 metres in 30 kilomteres along the old route that the goldminers took in the late 1890's in hope of the Big find. Very nice afternoon on the train.

We had a whole day on shore in Skagway where the ship was moored for the day.

Art lessons and Auction on board, very informative and interesting.

On the second night was captains dinner, do we look like if we are on loveboat??

One of the many dinning rooms, one was nicer than the next and all had fabulous food.

Last evening and last show every evening at 7.30 and 930 there were two shows of 11/2 hours each. On the last evening a large part of the staff came out.

Everything comes to an end here we are back in the harbour of Vancouver a last breakfast before dis-embarking.
WE HAD A WONDERFUL CRUISE AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.
Thanks to Susanne McCardle our travel agent in New Zealand well done well organised
